Counselling Information
Spiritual counselling is an ever growing popular form of counselling. It is basically advice and support for a person to get more in touch with and more fully experience his/her spiritual nature.
This type of counselling is different from conventional counselling in the way that it only lightly touches upon subjects that are normally dealt with in personal psychology. For example, it will not go into great detail in areas such as relations, self-image, self-worth, habits and behaviours. Instead, the major focus of this therapy is in aspects such as faith, devotion, wisdom, compassion, spiritual techniques (e.g. prayer and meditation), and spiritual experiences.
Like others, this form of counselling works best through respect and trust. The counsellor has usually had more experience than the person asking about a particular topic and therefore, can give sound advice. When that topic is spirituality, the aim is to help well-adjusted people to further their growth towards becoming more in tune with themselves and becoming part of the larger experience that we call life.
